Fat Cat

One of our dogs killed one of our kittens last night. A few months ago, one of the stray cats in our neighborhood had kittens in our garage. Daily temperatures this August remained well above 100 degrees consecutively, so, we decided to bring the kittens inside until things cooled off. We kept them locked in the guest room and had only recently brought them back out to the garage. We couldn’t find a shelter to take all six of them, and not knowing what else to do, we kept the garage door open and hoped for the best. At least we gave them a chance. Last night, Doug wandered into our backyard through a hole in the fence.

Mama cat had three gray kitties, two tabbies, and Doug, the little black runt who dropped an hour late and was the most vocal out of the bunch. Doug came out hissing. I’m just so heartsick right now. We buried him in the front garden.

Isaiah 11:6-9

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
